Silver Nanoparticle Research

Extended Research Paper

The spring (2015) I decided to break out of my comfort zone and explore the growing field of Nanotechnology, in taking the class Introduction to Nanoscience. In this class I learned how to critically analyze articles written about new technologies and not take everything that you are told at face value. Often there are issues of cost or large scale production that are not accounted for in many articles, and ultimately one must decipher what parts of the article are speculative and which are a true representation of the research. At the end of the class I wrote a research paper about silver nanoparticles and the water supply, displayed above. From this paper I learned to draw information from multiple reputable sources and bring that information together in order to articulate how nanoparticles are effecting our water supply. I enjoyed researching a real world issue as it forced me to inspect multiple aspects of a problem.
